Maserati MC 12
The Maserati range of sports cars is the brain child of the leading car company Maserati. Originally introduced with the motive
of entering the racing circuit, the Maserati MC 12 signalled the entry of Maserati into the racing arena. Based on the design of the Enzo Ferrari, the final product is a much larger version. The Maserati MC 12 has a maximum speed capacity of 330 kilometres per hour and a faster acceleration.
The starting stages of development of the Maserati began when it was with Ferrari, when Ferrari wanted to introduce this car in the racing circuit. In fact, MC stands for “Maserati Corse Competizione”. Though comparisons with Enzo Ferrari are valid, the design of Maserati MC 12 is different in terms of body work. The Maserati MC 12 belongs to the family of coupe and this is particularly a two door coupe. The roof though large is not attachable. The weight is equally distributed along the body of the car, with the centre of gravity being focussed in the middle of the car body. This leads to better stability and better cornering abilities.
The engine is of a V8 type with four valves each. The valves are lubricated by a system of dry sumps. The torque produced is 652 N-m and the maximum power output is 465 KW. The acceleration from 0 to 100 Kilometres per hour can be achieved in a very short span of 3.8 seconds, which is much lesser than the time taken by a Porsche Carrera. The transmission system is semi automatic through which the wheels are powered. The gear box on the Maserati MC 12 resembles the one in Enzo Ferrari. ‘Maserati Cambiorsa’ is the name given to this gear box. The gear box provides a shift time of around 150 milliseconds and consists of a dry clutch. Pirelli provides the tyres for the Maserati MC 12 and the anti braking system in this car is provided by Bosch.
Intensive styling is what draws a potential buyer towards this car. This car gives the driver a feel of gliding on the road while still experiencing the efficient performance of the high performance engines. Every part of this car can be called a work of art. The smooth lines of the bonnet into which the headlights seamlessly fit, the aerodynamically effective channel of the car at the sides, the wishbone suspension at the front and rear, to improve suspension and the overall sleek design stands proof of the fact that some of the best brains have gone in to the making of this master piece.
The interiors are very comfortable and conducive for an enjoyable ride. The cabin is elegant and sporty with pleasant shades of leather cushioning and upholstery lining the cabin sides. The finish is perfect, a trademark of the Maserati. To sum it up all, this car gives you every penny’s worth and that should explain why all the cars manufactured by Maserati have been sold out. So if you are planning to buy this wonder machine, you might have to place an order with Maserati and wait till they manufacture one for you!
