The earlier models of Hummer represented a class by itself with undisputed performance and endurance. The new Hummer H3 is all set to take it to a new dimension of luxury. The idea that contributed to the birth of the Hummer H3 is its demand. People from various markets across the globe expressed the desire for a luxurious everyday vehicle offering Hummer’s performance. The H3 inculcates every aspect of its predecessors with a lot more luxury. When compared to the H2, the Hummer h3 is a little shorter in length and height. Almost as long as a normal sedan, the H3 can run smooth in the city traffic still offering the power and endurance.
To capture the markets across the globe, a global redesign team was appointed. This team took up the responsibility to alter the features of the vehicle to suit the conditions of different countries. This redesign gave rise to notable changes in the body of the Hummer H3. The oval design of the headlights with a chrome surround, specially designed side blinker lamps, lenses with amber bulbs and a unique tail lamp are the changes made to meet the international standards. The external radii on the mirrors were changed. To cover the tyres, additional fender flares were introduced. A specially designed rear bumper with a new Rear Protection under Run Device and rear fog lamps are also a part of the modification.
The unique design and features of the Hummer H3 makes it easily recognizable. The distinct 7-slot chrome louvered grille, the flat flush windshield, the protective aluminium front skid plate with embossed H3 logo and the 32 inch diameter tyres, makes it stand out from the rest of the models across the world. The powerhouse of the Hummer H3 consists of a 3.7-liter engine with inline five-cylinders. Dual overhead camshafts and variable valve timing also support the engine. These facilities result in an output of 180kW at 5600 rpm providing 328Nm of torque at 4600rpm.
With all these super-class facilities, the Hummer H3 also offers a choice between manual and automatic transmission. This is the first model of Hummer that offers such an option. The electronically controlled four-wheel drive of the Hummer is accompanied with a traction control and an optional rear-locking differential. The ‘wheel at each corner’ design supports the off-road performance of the Hummer H3 giving a maximum approach angle of 37.5 degrees and a maximum departure of 34.6 degrees. With all the dreamt about features put into reality, the Hummer H3 is in a class of its own.
