2006 Dodge Charger SRT8
The 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 carries on the long tradition of the Dodge Charger series for another year, as they strive to bring something new to the table with each model, and this model was no differ
ent, as the car was hailed for its high performance abilities. The design of the Charger SRT8 has a special mix of Street and Racing Technology (SRT) imbedded into its core, and for this muscle sedan the results are amazing and first time reached for its kind. The right infusion of racing inspired interior, appropriate and useable strong appearance exterior, increased power output, supreme riding and handling capabilities, and prime braking.
The overall look of the car has a lot to say about it as the function exterior and racing interior combines for a flawless appearance that leads to staggering results and performance. The strong and in-your-face structure of the car lends to its amazing output of power through aerodynamics and ventilation, as functionality is center of the car’s exterior. With a newer designed front fascia containing built-in air ducts which send air to the brakes, as well as a dam to decrease lift, and there is scoop on the hood in order to vent the engine. The back fascia also contains lower strakes for ventilation, and unique brash cutouts for double 3.5in exhaust. There is also a vivid decklid spoiler set upon double stanchions, which aids in maximizing downforce for high speed traction and stabilization. The car comes in 3 outstanding colours of Inferno Red Crystal Pearlcoat, Bright Silver, and Brilliant Black.
The racing interior of the SRT8 includes quite a number of improvements from the last Dodge Charger car that can now be considered its trademark. The colours of the interior come in either Light Greystone or Dark Slate Grey, and also include contrasting red stitching for all upholstery. The amenities of the interior include carbon fibre technical leather trim on the steering wheel, power maneuvered, incredibly sculpted and very bolstered sporting seats at the front fitted with suede inserts to hold passenger while driving. The rear seats also have these inserts as well. There is also a tachometer, speedometer, a temperature gauge, and an LED display screen at the heart of the cluster to configure the car’s details. There are also a long list of additional options and features that come with the SRT8 to increase the driving experience.
The core of the car’s power comes from the 6.1 litre HEMI V8 that is naturally aspirated and SRT engineered to produce an amazing 425bhp and a torque of 420ft-lbs. The engineers added more cubic space, revamping the cylinder head, increasing the engine speed and compression ratio, and exhaust and intake systems for more free flow. They also increased the internal diameter of each cylinder to displace more, along with quite a number of other important modifications, all aimed for increased performance. It also takes from the HEMIs’ past with orange cylinders, black valve covers, and hemispherical combustion chambers providing efficiency. The car accelerates from 0-60 mph in approximately 5 seconds and 0-100 mph within 13 seconds.
The brakes are all four wheels feature Brembo performance brake calipers, with a red finish trait of the Dodge SRT vehicles, as each four-piston caliper holds a vented rotor; 360 x 32mm discs at the front, with 350 x 26mm in the back. The transmission is an A580 five speed automatic transmission with special regulated driver option AutoStick.
